Rome Total War Heaven
They are two completely different games.Stronghold 2 plays more like the traditional base-builder RTS. Place farms and industry and build defensive walls, train individual troops and fight on the same map where an oponent is doing the same.Rome: Total War is a turn-based strategy game, that plays more like Lords of the Realm 2 on a really grand scale.
You move your armies on the strategic map while commanding cities to build certain buildings and such, and when two armies meet, you fight the battle on a tactical battlefield map.They have two very different scopes and play entirely differently. Comparing them is like comparing apples and oranges: they're both fruits butvery different fruits.I like them both, play them both, and have immense fun with both.(oh, also, they cover different timeframes (duh). So if you like the Middle Ages but absolutely can't stand the Roman Empire. R:TW is a good game.

It could of been a great game though, just like SH2, good game, but not quite living up to its full potential.I would have to say I probably like SH2 better, I tend to like to build more than I like to command troops.But if you want a great tactical simulation of ancient warfare, then R:TW is your answer. Especially since there is such a huge modding community dedicated to make it all that much more better. Just go to R:TW Heaven and go to the Mod Portal, there are many options for just about every time period in history.I'm loving SH2 right now, and will keep playing it. Especially with this superb follow up service that FireFly is providing, it truly is rather unique.
