Music App To Play Files From Sandisk Media Drive Attached To Ipad
I use my Z2 (D6503) for 2 years now and always use the stock Music (previously Walkman) app for playing music files. Never root the phone and always update using official release through OTA, the current build number is 23.5.A.0.570. I use a Sandisk Micro SDXC UHS1 64GB and always copy new files to the card using a USB adapter to PC.Last week, I realized the new mp3 albums I copied to the SD card were not detected by the Music app (updated to version 9.1.8.A.0.0). I also noted that when I changed the folder names, the files inside the folder were no longer shown in Music app. Fearing corrupted files or SD Card, I backed-up the files and formated the SD card twice.
Once using a PC to FAT32 and then using phone itself. After that, I copied the files back to the SD card. Now, the Music app does not detect these any of the music files in the SD card, although ES File Explorer and File Commander can see them.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion and sorry for the delayed response.Did as suggested (for both the media storage and music) and still nothing. Not sure how long it'd take to rescan the media files, but I left it overnight while it charged and when I checked in the morning, the app still shows no music files.I tried using a new SD card (after copying some mp3s for testing), cleared both the data for media storage and music, restarted the phone and after a while (about 30 min) the app still not showing anything. In the same time, the old SD Card was tested in a Samsung GS5 and the stock player directly recognize the files after I refreshed the library.
Put the old SD card back in Z2, explored the card with ES just fine, even watched a movie with MX Player too. It's just the mp3 files are not discoverable.I'll try to repair the software using PC Companion this weekend. Will update again afterward. Did a software repair using PC last weekend and restarted the phone. The step worked, and the files are back and found by the app.Not sure if clearing the media storage's data already worked but the phone is very slow in re-scanning the media, or the software repair that finally did the trick.Small update:After the whole process, I think the step with clearing the data of the the Media Storage and Music app may have been enough, but the database re-building is very slow and may take hours if you have many files. To speed up the process, I searched for app in Google Play that scan for media files. This app forces the phone to re-scan for media files and rebuild the database a lot faster than if you just wait for the Media Storage.
A word of caution, this process may use up the battery! I've been having this problem lately and I've found a solution by trial and error. My problem started with the fact that my Xperia X is not recognised by my pc via USB anymore. So I am unable to copy files directly to my phone from MediaGo.So I connected my microSD card to the laptop with an adaptor and transferred the files to the SD card with MediaGo. MediaGo recognised the SD card as Phone.
I transferred the files as FLAC files. However the Music app did not recognise the files and they did not appear in the Album, Artist or Songs lists.I then used the File Manager app to copy the files on to the Main Storage of the phone. The music app then recognised the files and played the tracks. However I deleted the tracks from the Main Storage and again the app would not recognise the files. Finally I moved all of the files from the SD card on to the Main Storage and used the Transfer Data application in Settings to transfer the files to the SD card.Eureka, the Music app recognised the files and the tracks appeared in all of the lists. I have struggled with this visibility of my music files problem too. My music files and directories are visible using Android File Managers and my PC but quite a few were invisible to my Pi Music Player. This was infuriating.
I could find nothing wrong with the problematic directories or files either by using Android Apps or viewing the directories from my PC. I have the Galaxy S9. I tried deleting of several.ini files but that did not help (or actually hurt either because they were in directories that were visible to the Pi Player.so?)What Finally seemed to make the problematic music files and directories visible was use of an App if found in Google Play named 'SD Refresh'. The app claims to make problematic files on an Android SD card visible to the PC.
My PC did not have trouble seeing these files however, it was only the Pi Music Player that had this trouble. So, I thought what the heck.let give it a try it. Using the app You select whatever directories you want it to 'REFRESH' by choosing 'Select' and then checkmarking the directories you want to Refresh. I chose my main music file directory which included all of the subdirectories and the problematic directories that were not showing up. I then let the app rescan the all of the directories.it took about 5 minutes but then.Walla. Micracles do happen. My probematic directories fianally showed up in my Pi Music Player after rescan.
This after a year or more of trying to fix this problem. I even reformatting and recopied all my music files. This fixed most of the visibility problems but, because of some finiky problem (as yet still not understood by myself) not all directories showed up. So, this App may have done the trick, give it a try. Good Luck to all.
